Church Planting

Image of a meeting where all participants are enjoying themselves. Introduction

The WBA is on mission for the Great Commission. We desire to advance the Kingdom of God in Williamson County and around the world. We want to see individual, church, and community transformation for the glory of God! We believe God has called us to partner with local churches to plant more churches to reach our world with the good news of Jesus.

Church Planting Strategy

Philosophy

The WBA does not start churches independently of other churches. We only start churches in conjunction with local churches. Every new church must have at least one sponsoring church that agrees to support and mentor the church planter. Any doctrinal issues concerning the church planter's qualifications, background or approach are resolved with the sponsoring church.

Funding

Member Churches contribute to the WBA Mission Advance Fund to support new church starts. Every dollar in this Fund goes directly to church starting. The WBA budget then covers all administrative expenses related to church planting. Each sponsoring church generally contributes a monthly amount to supplement the funding. At times the BGCT has generously funded new church starts as well.

Opportunities

There is a vast array of opportunities to start churches in Williamson County. We have a cross-section of socio-economic and ethnic groups including a substantial Hispanic, African American and Asian population. We are currently engaged in demographic research to identify opportunities to start new churches in our fast growing county. We want to see new churches that reach every demographic segment of our county.

Visit our demographics section to get more specific data.

Methodology

The WBA has no pre-determined method for starting churches. We realize that God uses all types of personalities and churches to reach all types of people. The WBA is open to any method that is biblical, ethical and Christ centered.

Training

Church Planting is a calling. It is also a skill. One reason new churches fail is the church planter's lack of adequate training. We offer the Church Planter Development Training to identify and prepare church planters who can work with our churches to start new congregations. Church planting is a challenging opportunity to impact a community for the Kingdom of God. If you are interested in learning what it takes to start a church this training is for you.  It is 6 hours of intensive training in the following:

Topics to be covered

  • Calling - confirming your calling as a church planter
  • Family - balancing family concerns with your calling to start a church
  • Funding - understanding how to fund a new church
  • Administration - developing skills to manage the new church's resources
  • Strategic Plan - designing and implementing an effective strategic plan
  • Core Group - putting together a leadership team to accomplish the vision
  • Launch - getting off the launch pad to start the new church
  • Other relevant topics

Class Dates -- April each year

This training course is provided free of charge to those who are considering church planting.

Hispanic Church Planting
