The purpose of the WBA Institute is to provide practical, intensive training for key leaders of churches in the Williamson Baptist Association and identify and develop prospective church planters who will start new churches.

Candidates: Candidates for Key Leader Training must meet the following enrollment requirements.  The program will be limited to 20 students.

  • Demonstrate that he or she is currently serving in a WBA church
  • Be at least 22 years of age
  • Receive endorsement from home church (included on application form)
  • Complete a written application and sign a commitment to attend all classes and complete all assignments— Download Application Form  
  • Secure an agreement from home church pastor to mentor student one hour each month during training (included on application form)

Cost: $600 including instruction, written materials, textbooks and meals on Saturdays.   Additional cost of $100 for textbooks.  A $150 down payment is due by September 4, 2007.  The remaining balance may be paid in installments of $70/month for the eight months of the Institute.   These payments will be due on the 15th of each month beginning September 15th and ending April 15th.  We encourage sponsoring churches to pay up to 50% of the cost.  Download Cost Estimate

Schedule: The Institute begins in September and runs through eight consecutive months concluding in April. The Church Planting Track occurs in at the end of the Institute. The classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. and on an occasional Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (lunch included).  Download 2007/2008 Calendar

Courses: There are thirteen different courses on the following topics:

Spiritual Foundations

Bible Study Tools

Leadership

Personal Mission Old Testament Survey Organizational Models

Theological Foundations

New Testament Survey

Pastoral Care and Counseling

Interpreting the Bible

Preaching/Teaching

 

Church History Examining Worldviews  

Curriculum: There are a total of thirteen courses, 31 class sessions and 102 hours of class time. 

Each instructor prepares his own material and handouts.   At the first class each student will be issued a binder with tabs to hold all material.  All classes will be held at the WBA building. 

Instructors: All of the Instructors have extensive experience leading and administrating churches. They include pastors, WBA staff and church staff.  At the end of each course the students will give a written evaluation of the Instructor.

Certificate: At the successful completion of all the courses the graduating students will receive a certificate at a graduation ceremony.

Scholarships: The WBA may provide scholarships for qualified individuals.  A scholarship committee of three qualified people will determine the amount of the award on a case by case basis after reviewing the individual's financial ability, the home church's ability and willingness to contribute, and the WBA's ability to contribute.  Download Cost Estimate
